“Art, for me, is part of the everyday: a shape, a texture, a color, a landscape, a magazine, a shop window. Everything connects me immediately with him “
Elena Fernández, Venezuelan and of Portuguese parents, is a Social Communicator, graduated in 1998 from the Andrés Bello Catholic University in Venezuela.
His career as an artist began when at the end of 2000 he founded his firm, EF Accesorios, thus dedicating himself professionally to Accessories Design. Participation in parades, exhibitions, exhibitions and interviews in the press, magazines, radio and TV, add to this trajectory.
In 2010, the experience of working in an Art Gallery represented the first impulse to dare to think that he could put all his ideas on a canvas. The second and final impulse of her was the beginning of her relationship with the also Plastic Artist Carlos Solórzano who led her to experiment with her abilities. She is self-taught in her training and with practice in some workshops of her interest in the creative area, after some time experimenting, she decides to turn all that passion towards art, creating pieces with free technique.
He describes his work as free and original, he translates the feelings that he perceives, capturing them on the white canvas, playing with the pigments and textures that he has at his hand. His work is an encounter with waste and paint where any material has the potential to be used: wooden slats, swarm of threads, metal pieces, leather scraps, chain cuts, are reused and take on new life in their hands.
Passionate about the combination of shapes, textures and colors, she manifests in her work as an artist a fascination for collecting, reconstructing and transforming waste, assembling objects and creating art with them.
The result of this practice are pieces that harmoniously integrate elements with the most diverse origins, but always inspired by life, ecology, recycling and transformation. Warehouses, sawmills, rubble, industrial and common waste represent great emotion, which translates into a passion to create. “When I discover them and bring them to my workshop, the connection is absolute.”
